BioImagene and Amirsys® Integrate VirtuosoTM Digital Pathology Software with PathIQ® ImmunoQuery® Online Diagnostic Clinical Decision Support System

Integration offers pathologists improved efficiency and diagnostic support through a single interface .

CUPERTINO, Calif. & SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioImagene, the leading provider of innovative digital pathology solutions, and Amirsys, the leading provider of imaging informatics and diagnostic clinical decision support for pathology and radiology, today announced the integration of Amirsys’ PathIQ ImmunoQuery, the definitive evidence and expert based informatics system for selecting and ordering Immunostains, with Virtuoso, the comprehensive suite of web-based digital pathology software designed for use with BioImagene’s iScanTM digital slide scanners.

“The integration of PathIQ ImmunoQuery, the definitive source of immunohistochemistry diagnostic decision support, with Virtuoso, the leading digital pathology application, is great news for pathologists because it takes workflow integration to the next level,” commented Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rob Monroe of BioImagene. “By using these systems together, pathologists will have the ability to access both evidence-based and expert antibody recommendations and then order immunostains as an integral part of their routine workflow. This will also allow them to draw upon the most comprehensive and continually updated database of immunohistochemistry references and research results for diagnostic support.”

“The integration of PathIQ ImmunoQuery with Virtuoso helps hospitals and independent labs promote cost-effective management of their internal antibody and IHC resources,” commented Elizabeth Hammond, M.D., FCAP, Executive Editor for Pathology at Amirsys. “The integration provides a mapping between the lab’s existing antibody test directory and ImmunoQuery’s extensive antibody menu, enabling pathologists to tailor immunostain orders to include antibodies available in-house whenever possible. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers this expanded suite of features that maximize the potential of digital pathology.”

BioImagene’s Virtuoso is a role-based system that enables pathologists, histo-technologists, lab administrators and clinicians to improve the efficiency and quality of the anatomical pathology workflow. It allows the user to scan glass slides and then perform a wide range of functions – including view, manage, manipulate, analyze, report and collaborate – in the digital form.

Amirsys’ PathIQ ImmunoQuery is the most widely used pathology informatics system for selecting and interpreting immunostains. It provides powerful meta-analysis and expert-based panels, and also provides high-resolution images of salient histologic features, tissue controls, antibody stains and diagnostic pitfalls. PathIQ ImmunoQuery helps pathologists quickly define a panel of immunostains to differentiate among a set of possible diagnoses. Its database is updated continually and is fully referenced with published studies.
